No, no big introductions and big speeches - this is just my personal (Kifa is my nick), nerdy (with glasses and goatee!) website, in which you will find some galleries, articles and various things in the area of computers, games, CG and the like. Browse, read, pass on to friends if you like it. And that's pretty much all about it. :)
Almost dead... Almost.
So there's been no activity here for over a month. Long story short - I got really lazy because of the heat and some other real-life things I have to do, and so the site entered a limbo. It's not that there is no progress regarding Project Atlantis or any other stuff - I just have to sort out some problems and there will be enough material to present you with a second dev-diary. Just be patient, work is starting to gain momentum... ;)
I just hope that it won't end up like Duke Nukem Forever or something...
Ok, so as to not make you think I'm dead - two screenshots from Project Atlantis Alpha 1, which is currently under development. I'm testing the stage construction engine and some effects while I'm at it. The ship is not flyable - yet! - and I've put it there just for show. Also - textures on it are not final, I might tweak them a little bit in the future. So, the WiP's:
I wonder if I manage to pull this project off...? Oh well, we'll see. Oh, and expect another game review soon, plus something to read finally.
New piece of rant is up and you can read it here. Not much to say, just expressing what is on my mind, but if someone disagrees then I welcome reasonable arguments. Oh, and yeah, the Mario artwork at the end is actually from the Mario vs Donkey Kong - Mini-Land Mayhem. I just couldn't find any screenshot of the game itself.
Expect some kind of image update soon. Can't tell when exactly, but soon. And please keep your stoppers with you at all times - you never know when you'll be vuvulzelled to death... -_-'
So, another gaming video is up, this time about an arcade classic brought back to life on our home gaming consoles. Check it out and let me know what you think.
Also - there will be another 'artistic' update soon and something to read too. I'm currently looking up my options in those fields, bur expect bigger update within a week or so. Meanwhile - enjoy the video!
First ever development diary about Project Atlantis is up! You can give it a read here. It's not much, but there are always the beginnings, aren't there? Expect more of those to arrive in due time and remember - I'm working on the project in my spare time, so it has no schedule or something. ;)
Also - there will be another gaming video soon, and this time I'll talk about After Burner Climax. Hopefully it wont be as bad as the first one and I'll focus more on what I'm talking about rather than making it work at all. Stay tuned!
Oh, yeah, and I finally updated Links with... uh... any links. Just a few of them, but good ones in my opinion.Check them out!
So, finally - my first gaming video EVER. Be forgiving. ;) Enjoy and leave me a comment either here or on YouTube and tell me what you think about it. I'm planning on making more of them, but only if they will meet with some interest, so keep that in mind. Oh, and yeah, I'm not a native speaker, so excuse my horrible pronunciation. ;)
Today I'm presenting you with one of the stupidest creations of myself - Air Duct v1.0, built into my PC to help cool a graphics card placed in the bottom of a not-so-well-built case. Want some duct tape action? Give it a read!
Also I'm preparing some new concept arts for the game project - currently scanning and applying some colour on them. Expect them to show up some time next week. And duh, writing thesis is a lot harder than it initially seemed to me... O.o
While browsing through some Ubuntu online docs (i can't remember now what exactly was I trying to find) I stubled upon something that instantly caught my attention - cool CD labels, perfect for buring with my Lightscribe disk writer (the labels are not served anymore apparently, I'll see if I can mirror them somewhere or something). Among them was a label for 'Lubuntu'. A quick check revealed the new and quite obscure Ubuntu spinoff, based on LXDE and extreamlly light. Some time later I've installed the system on a virtual machine and started testing...
Read on to have a quick look at what Lubuntu has to offer!
You can also follow me on Twitter from now on - head to ContactMe page for links!
So I finally managed to texture the player ship for the game project I mentioned earlier. Here are a few renders - not that the model was simplified geometrically, and the texture is actually a vector image converted to raster. I found that approach very suitable for this kind of textures.
Now on to start making the generic enemies, and after that - bosses and level asstes.
Well, apart from what is happening here in Poland (and I tell you - people got into some form of mass hysteria after the government plane crash in Smolensk a week ago, but let's not talk about all this - makes me nervous) I just got lazy with the site, which is plainly obvious I suppose. Happens to us all at some point I guess...
Anyway - I have a little bit of rant for you today, so go on and give it a read if you shit free time. ;)
Today, that is 10h of April of year 2010, at about 8:56 of Polish time (that is 7:56 GMT and 10:56 Moscow time) a government plane, carrying 88 passengers aboard, including polish president Jaroslaw Kaczynski, his wife, and many other high ranking military and civilian officials crashed during landing approach in the forest near the airport in Smolensk. There are no survivors.
I'm sorry for the official tone, but really... It is hard for me even to speak Polish right now, let alone coherently spell in a foreign language, but you must understand. This is a shock for everyone, and a tragedy of unbelievable scale... It's just unspeakable... And I'll be better off just not writing anything else...
